Ep 89 - 'How to Assume Your Authority in a Male Dominated Industry', with guest Tiffany Kirkwood
Welcome to Her Ambitious Career, the personal branding and success podcast for ambitious corporate women who expect more from their lives and careers.
My guest today is Tiffany Kirkwood who, with a 25 year STEM career under her belt, knows a thing or two about working in a male-dominated environment.
In this episode, Tiffany is sharing so much useful, practical advice... you really (really) don't want to miss it.
Tiffany is offering:
- Her practical suggestions on how to counter and call out bias in the workplace
- How to champion women and Women in Leadership initiatives in your workplace by involving male sponsors
- How to keep conversations about gender open and honest to create genuine change
- And how to maintain your personal brand and your authority when operating in environments where you are the minority

Guest Bio:
Tiffany has had a successful 25 year career in the construction industry working for 12 years with Volvo, 12 years with Caterpillar and is now the Executive General Manager at Hastings Deering in Queensland Australia.
Here's something that stood out for me in today's episode:
“Bias is still there but things are changing. We all need to do our part: the males and the females. At Caterpillar, I was once asked to sponsor a Women in Network and I said 'No'. The females were unhappy with me. I said to them, 'I will 100% back you up but you need a male sponsor to do this.' We need the guys to come onboard and say this is the right way forward. We need the guys as allies and to be part of the conversation." (Tiffany Kirkwood, guest on ‘Her Ambitious Career’ Podcast)
